Oliver Linch is the founder and principal of OJL Law. He advises founders, executives and boards of financial services and fintech businesses on regulation across borders, from authorisation and market entry to enforcement and wind-down.

He spent ten years in the Financial Regulatory Group at Shearman & Sterling, advising investment banks, exchanges and financial institutions on matters across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and North America. His work there included financial market infrastructure, payment services and legislative drafting for special economic zones.

He went on to serve as General Counsel and then Chief Executive of Bittrex Global, an international exchange, giving him direct experience of regulation from inside a regulated business.

Oliver is a Senior Fellow at the Adam Smith Institute, where he contributes to policy work on financial services and technology. He is a member of the Financial Markets Law Committee's Finance & Technology Scoping Forum and the AIMA Anti-Money Laundering Working Group, and comments regularly in the international financial press.
